Common questions.

Is it free for users?

Browsing and booking free activities costs nothing. For paid activities, you pay the price the host sets — no extra fees on top.

How do hosts get paid?

Hosts connect their bank account via Stripe. When someone books a paid activity, the payment is held securely and released to the host after the activity takes place.

What does The Local charge?

We take a 10% platform fee on paid bookings only. Free activities are completely free — no catch. Hosts keep 90% of every paid booking.

What if I need to cancel?

Users get a full refund if they cancel a paid booking. Hosts can also cancel — all attendees are automatically refunded.

Can I host for free?

Absolutely. Many hosts list free activities — meetups, community events, group runs, and more. No fees, no limits.

How do I become a host?

Just sign up and create your first activity. There's no approval process — anyone can host. To accept payments, connect your bank account in settings.
